Born in Vermont William Lewis Manly spent his youth living on the edge of the frontier and would spend a good part of his life helping to move that frontier constantly westward. In 1849 he joined up with a wagon train headed to the California gold fields and along the way he would walk his way in to the history of Death Valley, California, and the USA. 48 pages.
